General Randy A. George

General Randy A. George became the 41st Chief of Staff of the Army on September 21, 2023, after serving as the 38th Vice Chief of Staff. Commissioned from West Point in 1988 as an infantry officer, he began his career with the 101st Airborne Division, deploying for Desert Shield/Desert Storm. He later commanded units at Fort Carson and earned a Master’s in Economics from the Colorado School of Mines in 1999. Throughout his career, General George held key leadership roles, including in the 173rd Airborne Brigade, 101st Airborne Division, and 4th Infantry Division, deploying multiple times to Iraq and Afghanistan. He also served in strategic positions such as executive assistant to the CENTCOM commander and director of force management. Before becoming Vice Chief, he commanded I Corps at Joint Base Lewis-McChord and was the senior military assistant to the Secretary of Defense, demonstrating extensive leadership in both combat and strategic roles.
