Shifts in climate have the potential to pose a direct threat to U.S. military operations. Given the effects of climate on the environments the U.S. military must traverse, the Department simply cannot presume its current systems of transport and power generation will be adequate into the future.
This analysis uses Decision Science technologies to provide a baseline of the Department’s prioritization of investments in the technologies, assets, and activities used to manage the interaction between national security and larger global dynamics. In so doing, it offers policymakers both the necessary empirical foundation from which to identify areas in need of realignment, and a means of monitoring progress over time.
