What was your role in the military?
I served in the United States Army for over a decade, primarily in logistics and supply chain management roles. During my time, I led cross-functional teams to support major federal events, including coordinating transportation and supply chain operations for 1,300 servicemen. One of my most memorable experiences was orchestrating logistics for the State Funeral of President George H.W. Bush.
Additionally, I supervised budgets, implemented digital tracking solutions, and managed daily operations for critical supplies, ensuring mission success rates above standard expectations. My roles required adaptability, strategic foresight, and an unwavering commitment to mission readiness and efficiency.
What made you choose Govini?
My decision to join Govini was driven by my interest in software driven improvements and my passion for supporting federal clients. Govini’s mission of providing data-driven insights to enhance government decision-making aligned with my military experience in logistics and operations planning. I wanted to leverage my skills in a civilian context, particularly in a role where I could still impact the defense sector. Working at Govini allows me to contribute to solutions that benefit national security, applying my experience to help optimize resources and improve outcomes for government agencies.
How has being a veteran shaped you?
Being a veteran has profoundly shaped my character and approach to both personal and professional challenges. The military instilled in me a strong sense of discipline, resilience, and the ability to adapt in high-stakes situations. I learned the importance of teamwork, strategic planning, and leading with purpose, which continue to influence my career and life today. My experiences have also given me a deep appreciation for service, a desire to give back, and a commitment to helping others succeed.
How can Americans show their appreciation for veterans?
Americans can show their appreciation for veterans in several meaningful ways. Supporting veteran-owned businesses, volunteering with or donating to organizations that serve veterans, and advocating for policies that benefit veterans are all impactful ways to give back. Small gestures, such as listening to veterans' stories and showing genuine interest, also go a long way in honoring their service. Ultimately, recognizing veterans not just on Veterans Day but throughout the year fosters a sense of belonging and respect.
